[Prelude] Snippets from Krillion #2

#4

-- Medicus Ministorum Post Mortem Report --

Presiding: Magos Jaspar of Exillium

"Deceased presents with palid grey complexion, skin appears smooth and shiny, this is the third case if Griseophage spore poisoning this planetary cycle, all of them new arrivals on Krillion. Perhaps prolonged exposure grants immunity? Long term solution would be to destroy all specimens on Krillion but I doubt that is possible... at least not without exterminatus...

"Show me what you've got..." she feinted a dry and serious face. Trying her best to not to look at the cards in her hand. Daddy had always said she didn't have a poker face. If only the fool could see her now.
She watched as the moron across from her, revealed what she had inevitably expected.
"Pay up, Chump!" She announced gleefully.

By the throne of sacred Terra she loved this place! Here in Paradise you could become anyone you wanted. Of course it costed gelt, a lot of gelt, but daddy could afford it.

Here she was "Red" a Huntress from from Voyager's Cape, spending her "well earned fortune". This gave her a different kind of power than the one she had back home.

"...This is Crescendo-Leader, Authority code 992Q, sky high and wings are free. Over."
"Crescendo-Leader this is Quentif Base. Thank you for receiving our hail. Please redirect to coordinates...that should be coming up on your datascreen... Over"
"Copy that, Quentif Base. New Destination Kasali Road. Training exercise? Over."
"Stand by Crescendo-Leader..."
"..."
"..."
"Crescendo-Leader please go as advised, eyes only. Over" came a new and stern voice over the Vox.
"Roger that. Eyes only. Anything in particular? Over."
"... ...If you ask me it's a wild Wyrmfeather chase...Just fly over and report anything unusual. Over".
"Roger Quentif Base. Crescendo Squad on route. over and out".
Hours later, with no word from Crescendo Squad. That was when Quentif Airbase knew something was wrong, terribly wrong.

Guardsman Tohan desperately made for the door. His body was running on empty. His adrenaline the only resource in his body. Despite his tiresome body, his mind raced.
A message. Only the message could save them now.
The Comms tower had already been raided and dismembered bodyparts lay scattered, blood soaked the walls.
Tohan gagged but no vomit would come. He forced himself to see past the lives lost here. The message.
Having worked the Vox-channels for his superiors, the apparatus here wasn't totally alien to him.
Thankfully the machines were intact. He got to work, focused only on the duty left to him. He spoke, with a dry and weary voice. How aged he sounded.
He paused momentarily. footsteps? Was he being pursued?
The message. Only the message.
He inputted on the panels, continuous loop, maximum range. Then he hit the Confirmation rune.
His desperate message was out there. He had succeeded.
The Message was out there.
Someone would answer. They had to answer.
