Ch.1: Transmission Intercepted.

++Start of transmission++
++++ I have no care for the mountain you can keep this area my only concern is if the heretek, or any other enemy of the god emperor makes it to the sacred forges hidden in the south.
I will focus on dealing with the Heretek, you will have enough forces to take out the other filth. I will concede the mountain to you but you must allow me to travel through your territory to protect the Mengnar facility. It would be unwise not to take up this offer.++++

++++ Iron Father Meirgear Seanair, I accept your offer of an alliance and will not hinder you on your journey to the forges in the south and it will be an honour to go into battle along side fellow brothers against the arch enemy. However I will speak plainly not with veiled threats but with clear intentions, the matter that brings me here is more important then the fate of one planet and those who live on it despite how valuable each and every life of an imperial citizens is, if my mission demands they must perish though it will pain me I will carry this task out to completion removing any who would stop me fulfilling the Emperor's will. Without the Dark, there can be no Light, we have purpose. Without the lie there can be no Truth, we have purpose. Without the war there can be no Victory, we have purpose. Without the Death there can be no sacrifice we have purpose. Without the Hope there can be no furtrue, we have purpose. Without the Loyalty there can be no one chapter, we have purpose. Without the Emperor there is nothing,.... and we would habe no purpose. May the Emperor guide you brother++++

Prelude: Khador's Mercenaries

Lord Commander Khador Valentine was once just a lowly tank commander but when his home world was thrown into the warp due to a tear in real space, he was thrust into command of his company after all the higher ups were slain in battle against the daemon tide.
Realising that this was an unwinnable battle, he ordered the remaining part of the company to retreat off world and abandon the remaining civilians to their demise. He did not take this decision lightly, however this was the only choice that didn’t mean all of the men under his command would die horrendous and pointless deaths.
He and his troops hate themselves and the Imperium for abandoning that planet to its doom. Having no home to return to and no desire to be thrown pointlessly to their deaths by the Imperium, the company unanimously decided to leave the Imperium behind and become mercenaries that fight for anyone who pays the large price for their services.

However, every army needs a place to call home and Krillion was the first planet they found that was far enough from the tear that was habitable. Even though it was heavily invested with Orks, Khador decided it was too risky to try and find another world as well set up as Krillion without being caught by the Imperium for being heretics. Any sizeable Imperial fleet could easily destroy what few ships they had left, and they needed to find somewhere to fortify quickly before being rooted out. Krillion was the only option.

Little did they know how hard it would be to settle on this infested world. Not only were there Orks to contend with, but also other invading forces were looking to take Krillion for their own reasons. Whatever the case, Khador Valentine does not back from a fight easily. This would be an excellent opportunity to prove that his company could succeed where others could not. Being separated from the Imperium would not be easy but showing what his mercenaries could do would make the Inquisition think twice before attempting to take them on. This was the only hope Khador’s Mercenaries had left.

Prelude: Chaos Daemons

‘Why this planet Master? There are many more suited to Grandfathers blessings!’

Sarcoma looked down at his herald, so much like a child in its naivety ‘where the animals go, war comes swiftly, death and decay are inevitable consequences. The corpses of all these subspecies will give the garden such rich fertiliser, our blooms will be grand and fragrant.’

A wide grin split the heralds face, it’s gaping maw filled razor teeth and a pungent smell leaked out that even the Prince of Nurgle could only bear for a short time.

‘Summon the legions my Herald, it’s time to tend the garden!’

Prelude: Fractal Continuum

Some when - a young boy stands with a crowd of others in a dusty courtyard, they each take turns in tracing a complex pattern in the air as a robed tutor watches with interest. On his third try the child wins a small nod of approval from the silent instructor.

Another turn - a warrior in ornate red armour staggers from the distant impact of an orbital barrage. His opponent dispatches him with a brutal strike to the neck with a savage looking axe. The sky burns.

Another when - a crimson armoured warrior staggers under the distant impact of an orbital barrage and uses the momentary distraction to catch his grey armoured opponent unawares with a point-black shot from a bolt pistol.

Another turn - an etheric wind howls around a group of figures locked in combat atop an impossible structure. It rises to hurricane force driving most of them to their knees, leaving others strangely untouched yet unresponsive.

The images swirl again and again as a figure gestures within a gleaming room, a golden figure addresses her legions punctuating a point with a blazing sword, another wave, a man in similar golden armour figure lies broken at the feet of a black armoured man blazing with power.
"Could have, might be, never was, never will," the gesturing stops and the hazy image of a planet struggles to come into focus.

Adjusting an arcane-looking device the figure resumes waving dislocated images away, each time eventually coming back to the same hazy maybe-planet. For how long this continues it is hard to say, but images of other warriors, human, post-human, and otherwise begin to pile up around the figure, now more animated with its gesturing and tinkering.
"So many drawn to this place and time, ignorant of their fate and blind to their place in what is to come." The figure chuckles to himself, "a delicate touch will be required." Another, more purposeful gesture and this time sanity warping runes and geometries blaze to life around the room.

Far above Krillion a thin needle of silver slips out of elsewhere and begins its descent, wrapped in a cloak of stolen darkness and unseen moments.

Prelude: Crimson Fists

++ Forty-two days ago ++

The remembrance pyres blazed upwards into the dark, cold air of the frozen mountains. Marking the site as they did each passing decade, where Arx Tyrannus, the mighty stronghold of the Crimson Fist Chapter once stood. The Space Marines gathered in numbers to remember and honour their fallen.

“They will never be forgotten”, Salbatore swore to himself as he and his fellow Primaris warriors stood taller than their gene-brothers. Head’s helmless and bowed, their left fist held against their chest. This was how the Crimson Fists honoured the Chapter. Salbatore and his company were proud to be here amongst their own. Here on Rynn’s World.

Pedro Kantor led the final procession, as Chapter Master it was he who reminded his Astartes that duty and honour go hand in hand, and that sacrifice would be asked of each and every one of them in their service to the Emperor. Afterwards a Chaplin stepped forth and as the Crimson Fist had always recited, he yelled “There is only the Emperor…”
Salbatore, his Primaris brothers and the entire assembly of Astartes responded profoundly, “He is our Shield and our Protector!”

++ Nineteen Days ago ++

The gunfire echoed down the streets. Orks were clambering upon the stone roofs, shooting clumsily any chance they had. Sergeant Kozak had had enough of the cat and mouse games it was time the Orks were cleansed from Hornsburgh, a city that had unfortunately found itself in the path of a fallen, infested Rok. “Garcia, advance!”

Kozak had hoped his Tactical Squad could have run down the Orks with little collateral damage. Hornburgh was a quaint, attractive city, untouched from war. The Sergeant had never known a place like it. Now he reserved himself regrettably, that in order to save the city, he would have to soil its beauty. The Razorback roared down the street, emblazed with the symbol of a Crimson Fist. Its twin heavy bolters burst to life as it gunned down Orks, they fell as ripe fruits from a tree. More Orks appeared at the windows above Kozak and his squad, yelling bestial taunts and firing their dancing guns, more for effect than with purpose.

The Razorback continued its onslaught of firepower, stonework exploding from the buildings. The vehicle itself came to a halt. Brother Gonzalez strode out, A Techmarine. His demeanour was one of intent and cause.
“Sergeant, I am being withdrawn…”
“Withdrawn? Under whose orders? We still have a campaign to finish here, albeit two days, but it is our duty nonetheless…”
Gonzalez was listening to his Vox Transmission, Kozak lingered patiently.
“Primaris, Sergeant. They need my support. The details are still coming…it is a Waaagh! ...In a neighbouring sector ...Arx Tyrannus is coming…”
“Arx Tyrannus!?” proclaimed Kozak with surprise, “So Kantor revives our weakness, and turns it into our strength?”
“It would appear so Brother, I for one welcome its revival. It will inspire a new dawn for our chapter.”
“That it will... That it will.”

++ Today ++

The Warp broke, splitting open and spewing out into reality, a mighty warship.
Stefano Salbatore stood upon the bridge of his Retribution-Class Captial ship, ‘Arx Tyrannus’, looking out upon a world crying out for salvation.

He and his Primaris Company had arrived at Krillion.

A world overrun with Greenskins. Salbatore was here to enact vengeance and justice upon the aliens that defiled this Imperial World. The Crimson Fists had spent many decades on the brink of extinction, underpowered and undermanned. Now with Cawl’s designs and Guilliman’s blessing it had all changed. The Orks would know the full wrath of the Crimson Fist chapter, a promise long overdue.

Prelude: Black Legion

It was just like it was 10,000 years ago. They emerged in the edge of the system, each tearing a tiny ragged wound to the immaterium as they passed through the murky sheen of the void behind them. Around 6 ships, tightly formed around a main cruiser, slowly sliding into the edge of the star system. The lead ship slithering to the front of the formation was a monster of a thing. What had clearly started as a heavy cruiser had been added to and augmented to where it now resembled a small battleship in terms of size. Black hull plating and gold trim outlined the seemingly imperial vessel. Its lines and angles all matching the ships brought to bear by the imperium, mostly. Here and there elements of innovation could be seen. The 2 large sections at either of its flanks, packed with long range autocannons gave it the appearance of a large iron fish, its pectoral fins wide. Up front, a long saw bladed prow jutted from its chin like an accusing sword blade levelled at a foe, built onto the vast teeth of the ‘saw’ were small turrets and hull defence lasers, each occupying a different tooth and swivelling lazily to track asteroids or other ships in the flotilla that came too close. None firing, just tracking. Looking straight on the ship would also have a heavily build underside, combed like a beehive. Inside each tunnel, hangars waited to dispense fighters and boarding craft into a formation, the ships unseen dagger to the serrated teeth of the enhanced macro batteries.

The ship was new forged for the Black Legion at the behest of the warmaster himself, and was captained by a very old astartes indeed. Old enough to remember when the Black Legion were the Sons of Horus, and even before then to the days of the lunar wolves. Falkus Kibre, First of the Justaerin and ‘Widowmaker’ of the first company. Now traversed the stars in the name of his lord. The tool for this was almighty ‘Sunbreaker’. Supported by the other cruisers ‘Black Anvil’ and ‘Herald of Woe’. The latter off to the edge of the formation in the foul, sickly green of the Death Guard. A necessary liability to Kibre, given the mission.

Recently, a Death Guard fleet had come across a Rogue Trader in the space beyond the rift. Pursuing it, the vessel had headed to a section of the rift seemingly blocked by a warp storm. Intrigued and unwilling to let their prey escape the Death Guard had run the trader down. A week later, after a stay with the plague surgeons, he had talked, and talked. News reached the Warmaster of a planet named Krillion, beset by Orks and sending out distress signals like a wounded beast, such a planet going dark would be all too natural to assume, giving a blind side to the corpse-emperors Imperium, a chink in the armour for the spear tip to be thrust into the Imperium.

Chosen by Abbadon himself to wield the spear tip, the javelin which would sunder the rift and allow the warmaster’s fury to rain down, Falkus would not fail. He had gathered a warband of squads hand-picked for their performance both prior to and post Isstvaan and the long war. Many still wore their old armour, the sea green a jarring experience of pride and de ja vu. Regrettably, as part of the agreement to reveal the location, the task force had to be accompanied by a warband of the Death Guard. Lead by an insufferably boorish oaf by the name of Vulgarsus Gullgex. There to spread the gifts of the grandfather onto the virgin agriworlds of Ultramar, Kibre was to deliver this contagion.
Stomping into the war room aboard Sunbreaker, Kibre assessed his command. The large iron floored chamber ran up to a ceiling dome which allowed the starlight in during real space transit, and allowed the more…devout members of the warband somewhere to meditate when in the warp. Burnt or captured banners of fallen enemies crowded the walls of the circular chamber, the only key feature being the vast hololith in the centre of the room, surrounded by panels, so multiple officers could give demonstrations and affect the tactical display. He was secretly pleased, but would never let on, lest they grow arrogant and slack. Kibre was a dour, black clad juggernaut in antique terminator armour, the same suit he had worn to the siege of Terra itself. It was old and fit him like a glove. The long tusks he had attached some years later jutted out like the mandibles of a centipede and the reverse jaw of a sabretooth cat from prehistoric Terra. Kibre was less the butcher he had been before the heresy. Command had mellowed his crude, bloody candour into a capable combat mind and shrewd tactician. Favouring the shock assault tactics of old, he was an atypical Son of Horus. Cold, Realistic, yet no less brutal once the lead slipped and the wolves were released. The rest of his staff looked to him, all saluting in the old way, hand across breastplate.

There was Gullgex, as ever stuck into his cataphractii armour, and constantly accompanied by the buzz of flies, and the moist slushing of his entrails, battered his fist off with a low bong. Slow, out of limited movement or unwillingness, it didn’t matter to Kibre. For all his faults of personality, and barratry, he knew his warriors capabilities. The smaller death guard contingent marching endlessly into the teeth of enemy fire before scouring the life from them with their plague knives. Their main problem was their lack of subtlety, and would therefore be kept out of the smaller engagements.
From there his gaze found the Champion Gustavus, his wild ginger hair flapping in the discharge from his armours power back. He was the opposite of Kibre, flamboyant, confident and bragging. He inspired the brothers around him with jibes and goads, pushing them further into the fight. Not that the Khornate madmen needed it. Despite this, Kibre saw drive in the man, and recognised a great deal of himself in his young underling. He would need watching carefully.

Ever muttering inside his helm, the Apostle Vugard rocked backwards and forwards, Kibre knew he was listening but it was no less irritating. Better than having him slip the lead in here though. Another Khorne follower, he prided himself on delivering himself and his reavers into the fight first, and butchering their way far into the enemies back line. Useful, certainly more useful than the cultists who stopped to take heads or debase corpses as the followers of the Dark prince insisted upon doing. Vugard and Gustavus often lead the fore of the hammer blow Kibre committed to the enemies lines.
As ever, the enclave of sorcerers had failed to show up to a tactical briefing. Kibre didn’t miss them, they were the wrong kind of Astartes. The ones who tried to be too much. The Astartes were murderers of worlds, not scholars. Now they studied tomes and gleaned knowledge of the gods most couldn’t control. Still, they had their uses on occasion. When once decided he had finally discovered the ‘truth’ as to which god was ‘real’ and relied upon their casting in battle, only to retreat muttering of deception and weakness to find another damn spell book the next battle.

A hololith of Krillion hung in the air between them like the green light of an angler fish, distorted occasionally by someone moving their hand over a projector. There had been problems already. Gustavus clearing his throat to deliver the report.
“It would appear that we are not the first to locate this...opportunity. Other forces are converging on Krillion like flies to a carcass” He keyed in a zoom function onto the rift itself. “However, we may have an advantage lord.” Not waiting for the needless question he continued. “If we can control the planet, we’d have a foothold with which to gain egress into this new Imperium.”

Grullgex laughed wetly, a torrent of glistening ichor lurching from his helmet grills. “We can rain down pestilent death from the Herald of Woe. Once the bombardment has been completed, we can get our ships into ultramar before Guilliman can…” Gustavus cut him off. “Destroying the planet is…an option, but would leave an obvious hole. For maximum effect lord, we need to find a way of jamming on the all clear signal. Which means we need it intact, and will need to let the warpsmith subdue its machine spirit, a potentially lengthy process.” Kibre nodded for the man to continue. “Therefore, our objective is simple, subdue Krillion, and in doing so create the illusion of wellness until we can move more warriors and ships into Imperial territory.” He keyed in more orders. “However, this again won’t be easy. More than us want Krillion for one reason or another and the orks aren’t going to allow us to operate unimpeded, while the warpsmiths work, the rest of the strike force will need to be deployed to buy them time and subdue the rest of the planet. We could try...” Kibre finally spoke, holding up a hand to silence the champion. “The plan is this. Gustavus, Vugard, take command of the strike frigate… -he paused to check a dataslate offered by a serf and make his selection. Take command of the ‘Dreaded Return.’ Take the warriors you need for a surface raid. Find a drop zone capable of supporting the heavy landers, and get your claws into the imperials. Then we’ll move in with the heavy ships, at least buying time for our mechanicus contingent loosen the net Guilliman has cast if we can’t hold the planet completely.” He turned slowly to look at each of them. “Our orders come from the warmaster directly, other forces, even ‘allies’.” He said the word with a sarcastic scoff. “Are to be destroyed with extreme prejudice! The new imperium will die screaming in its infancy! And Krillion will be the vector for that poison!” The cheers of the other officers were drowned by warning Klaxons. Kibre smiled. “Strike force to your frigate! Bridge, target the nearest vessel and fire all macrocannon, maximum damage spread! All vessels are to engage the enemy! Give cover to the ‘Dreaded Return’ where able, no interceptors follow her in, no main ships able to shell where they land, for the Warmaster.” A series of confirms and countersigns returned through his vox. The others cleared the room, Gustavus grinning ferally at the thought of his duty as the first knife in, taking off into a run with Vugard to get to a shuttle to convey them. Kibre was reminded a lot of himself, which meant annoyingly Gustavus was going to survive. He thought on this as he trudged to the bridge, the void outside already erupting with arriving vessels and the decks shaking with the crump-thud of loading macro cannon. It was just like it was 10,000 years ago.

[Woken from hyper sleep on the Tomb World of Damnos, Nebebi is thrust into combat on Krillion under the direct instructions of Imotekh . His Master’s command is simple: Bring destruction and terror to the Galaxy and restore the Sautekh Dynasty to their rightful position amongst the gods. Known for his ruthless tactical acumen Nebebi will rule the locals with an ironfist or else they will feel his wrath. The galaxy will know terror once again.]

Prelude: Mortenok Pandemica

- An account of The Mortenok Pandemica -

The traitor warbands led by Xaphan are infamous in the Mortenok sector. Xaphan took his name from the traitor leader that caused the battle of Vraks. During the battles on Mortenok Xaphan managed to cause a warp rift that brought demons and utter destruction to the planet of Kaskad. This wasn’t Xaphan's goal however as the warprift was also harbouring an old spacehulk. This was his objective as it contained an ancient spacehulk full of technology. What he didnt know was that it also contained an old evil. Archmagos dominus kazneus who fought alongside Scoria during the Horus Heresy, was in stasis within the hulk.

Once awoken he immediately activated the Cybernetica within and took over the Mortenok Pandemica. He offered xaphan the chance to join him or die. Xaphan joined and Kazneus released his forces into the Pandemica. Hordes of servitors and scyllax were released by Kazneus to "enhance" his troops. Xaphan was gifted possession by a warp entity that gives him visions of the future and other powers. Although renegade his forces do show small allegiance to Nurgle. Before they fully became the Mortenok Pandemica they were known as the 713th dirtdogs. They are experts at fighting in polluted war zones and poisonous environments. Dark whispers usher words that Xaphan has been sent to Krillion to retrieve a bounty that Kazneus believes is lost in the depths of the planet’s surface, in a long forgotton crypt.

Prelude: Exorcists

The stillness above Krillion was ripped apart as the veil between the warp and reality was split and the strike cruiser Reclamation pushed its way out of the screaming wound and back into reality. Normally such a violent exit from the warp would have been picked up from the planet below but Krillion's focus was elsewhere just now.

++Scan complete++ The hollow metallic voice sounded over the Vox feed ++ Coordinates 310 E, 190 S++ a holo map appeared before the command throne of the Strike Cruiser casting a faint blue glow across the features of the man seated there, though to call him a man was an understatement. Clad in his battle plate he was a mountain, his armour moulded to his huge frame though decades of war, his psychic hood formed into an eagle, its wings spread out in flight behind his head, one would think that the sheer size of the warrior would be the most intimidating aspect of such a being, but to assume that would be a mistake

It was felt more by the human crew of the Reclamation then his brothers, the conditioning of the Exorcists left them more at ease with the presence of the warp then most. Even so it was rare for Alexandros to leave his mediation chamber while aboard the Reclamation. His mind adrift in the void searching for the strings that would show him what fate had in store, but of late his mind had been clouded and the direction of the warp a mystery, something he had not experienced on such a degree since being a Codicier.

His dark green eyes scanned the holo map quickly his mind storing all available information on the 11-known regions of the planet below. At last his eyes came to rest on the area known as Doom's maul, the reason they'd travelled so far and pushed the ship to breaking point. Alexandros's eye lingered on the region for a moment as if assessing a predator, then his hands blurred into series of quick controlled movements that relayed his orders to the Navy Captain at his side who in turn quickly shouted out instructions to the surrounding crew. Alexandros used BattleMark not for his sake but the sake of the human crew within ear shot, to hear him speak would have caused them at the very least a dull pain in the frontal portion of their brain, at worse full neural shut down, an after effect of his.... conditioning into the Exorcists Chapter.

Prelude: Stravoss 86th Airborne Infantry

On the surface of Cryloth Quintus, the smell of burning flesh and promethium was still permeating in the air. Far off in the distance the sound of artillery shells rumble as they hit the ground, only to be cut off by the roar of jet engines of valkyries coming to land. The airborne carriers, apart from some very distinct features almost blended into the desert sands surrounding it, from a distance you may not even be able to tell they were there.

From one of them four men stepped out who apart from two were all dressed very differently. The first was a man who wore a very well-made black leather greatcoat, a tall peaked cap and a commissariat badge of the Officio Prefectus. His facial features almost as sharp as the power sword on his hip. The Next wore a long blue uniform with an almost equally long black hat, the sleeves and trousers were white giving some contrast of colour, except at the end of the left arm where it ended in a metal hook and a badge on his collar showing the markings of the imperial navy. He appears to be talking through a communication device in his right ear as his remaining hand seems to be holding it in place. The man following was wearing guardsmen fatigues, a red peaked cap with skull embossed on it, a camo cloak draped around his neck and Officer markings of a major on his lapels. He seemed quite young for an officer while carrying a stack of papers and listening to the orders of the last man to leave. This man also wearing the desert fatigues and red cap the previous officer had however his entire left arm and left side of his face have been replaced with cybernetics, his chest was covered with various coloured ribbons with medals attached and the lapel markings of colonel.

He turned to the younger officer "Major Whittaker, I've been summoned to speak with Governor General Di Scouri probably regarding the mission at Trauten Gorge, your in command until i return, understand?", "yes sir" replied the major. "Lord Commissar Locke, Flight Lieutenant Aubrey, I ask that you forward all reports to the major, he has my authority as regimental commander until my return" they responded with a salute. A shout came from outside the main command tent "Governor General Di Scouri". "Ah Colonel Cranis, please do come in" she responded, "you asked to see me?". "Yes, i wanted to talk to you", "is this about what happened at Trauten Gorge?" ask Colonel Cranis. "No, and i would suggest you don't bring that up. Your lucky I don't have you shot for insubordination". "If i hadn't had done that we-" the general cut him off "ENOUGH, this is not why i called you here. We received an astropathic message dated from three days ago". The general taps a data-slate which plays the recording from Krillion, "so, a major Greenskin invasion on Krillion". "It would appear so, i need you and your 86th airborne to make preparations for departure immediately". "Any backup?" Ask the colonel, "you're it" the general responded, "great" said the colonel with a hint of sarcasm. "I'll make preparations at once" "I expect you to be on your way within the next forty eight hours standard". The colonel offered a salute and stepped out of the tent.

Cranis placed a comm-bead in his ear and placed finger on it, "Flight Lieutenant Aubrey, i need you to arrange embankment with ship master Nero of the heavy carrier Lyondis Prophecy. A voice crackled through the static, "Aye sir, I'll get right on it, do we know the destination?" "Krillion, sounds like they're in deep" "Understood colonel". After a brief moment of static Aubrey's voice came through again "they can be ready for us to embark in twelve hours, estimated arrival date is nine weeks standard", "good to know, tell them we’ll begin embarkation procedures in twelve hours, over and out".

[Prelude] Snippets from Krillion #2

#4

-- Medicus Ministorum Post Mortem Report --

Presiding: Magos Jaspar of Exillium

"Deceased presents with palid grey complexion, skin appears smooth and shiny, this is the third case if Griseophage spore poisoning this planetary cycle, all of them new arrivals on Krillion. Perhaps prolonged exposure grants immunity? Long term solution would be to destroy all specimens on Krillion but I doubt that is possible... at least not without exterminatus...

#5
"Show me what you've got..." she feinted a dry and serious face. Trying her best to not to look at the cards in her hand. Daddy had always said she didn't have a poker face. If only the fool could see her now.
She watched as the moron across from her, revealed what she had inevitably expected.
"Pay up, Chump!" She announced gleefully.

By the throne of sacred Terra she loved this place! Here in Paradise you could become anyone you wanted. Of course it costed gelt, a lot of gelt, but daddy could afford it.

Here she was "Red" a Huntress from from Voyager's Cape, spending her "well earned fortune". This gave her a different kind of power than the one she had back home.

#6

"...This is Crescendo-Leader, Authority code 992Q, sky high and wings are free. Over."
"Crescendo-Leader this is Quentif Base. Thank you for receiving our hail. Please redirect to coordinates...that should be coming up on your datascreen... Over"
"Copy that, Quentif Base. New Destination Kasali Road. Training exercise? Over."
"Stand by Crescendo-Leader..."
"..."
"..."
"Crescendo-Leader please go as advised, eyes only. Over" came a new and stern voice over the Vox.
"Roger that. Eyes only. Anything in particular? Over."
"... ...If you ask me it's a wild Wyrmfeather chase...Just fly over and report anything unusual. Over".
"Roger Quentif Base. Crescendo Squad on route. over and out".
Hours later, with no word from Crescendo Squad. That was when Quentif Airbase knew something was wrong, terribly wrong.

#7

Guardsman Tohan desperately made for the door. His body was running on empty. His adrenaline the only resource in his body. Despite his tiresome body, his mind raced.
A message. Only the message could save them now.
The Comms tower had already been raided and dismembered bodyparts lay scattered, blood soaked the walls.
Tohan gagged but no vomit would come. He forced himself to see past the lives lost here. The message.
Having worked the Vox-channels for his superiors, the apparatus here wasn't totally alien to him.
Thankfully the machines were intact. He got to work, focused only on the duty left to him. He spoke, with a dry and weary voice. How aged he sounded.
He paused momentarily. footsteps? Was he being pursued?
The message. Only the message.
He inputted on the panels, continuous loop, maximum range. Then he hit the Confirmation rune.
His desperate message was out there. He had succeeded.
The Message was out there.
Someone would answer. They had to answer.
