Prelude: Mortenok Pandemica

The traitor warbands led by Xaphan are infamous in the Mortenok sector. Xaphan took his name from the traitor leader that caused the battle of Vraks. During the battles on Mortenok Xaphan managed to cause a warp rift that brought demons and utter destruction to the planet of Kaskad. This wasn’t Xaphan's goal however as the warprift was also harbouring an old spacehulk. This was his objective as it contained an ancient spacehulk full of technology. What he didnt know was that it also contained an old evil. Archmagos dominus kazneus who fought alongside Scoria during the Horus Heresy, was in stasis within the hulk.

Once awoken he immediately activated the Cybernetica within and took over the Mortenok Pandemica. He offered xaphan the chance to join him or die. Xaphan joined and Kazneus released his forces into the Pandemica. Hordes of servitors and scyllax were released by Kazneus to "enhance" his troops. Xaphan was gifted possession by a warp entity that gives him visions of the future and other powers. Although renegade his forces do show small allegiance to Nurgle. Before they fully became the Mortenok Pandemica they were known as the 713th dirtdogs. They are experts at fighting in polluted war zones and poisonous environments. Dark whispers usher words that Xaphan has been sent to Krillion to retrieve a bounty that Kazneus believes is lost in the depths of the planet’s surface, in a long forgotton crypt.
