Prelude: Khador's Mercenaries

Lord Commander Khador Valentine was once just a lowly tank commander but when his home world was thrown into the warp due to a tear in real space, he was thrust into command of his company after all the higher ups were slain in battle against the daemon tide.
Realising that this was an unwinnable battle, he ordered the remaining part of the company to retreat off world and abandon the remaining civilians to their demise. He did not take this decision lightly, however this was the only choice that didn’t mean all of the men under his command would die horrendous and pointless deaths.
He and his troops hate themselves and the Imperium for abandoning that planet to its doom. Having no home to return to and no desire to be thrown pointlessly to their deaths by the Imperium, the company unanimously decided to leave the Imperium behind and become mercenaries that fight for anyone who pays the large price for their services.

However, every army needs a place to call home and Krillion was the first planet they found that was far enough from the tear that was habitable. Even though it was heavily invested with Orks, Khador decided it was too risky to try and find another world as well set up as Krillion without being caught by the Imperium for being heretics. Any sizeable Imperial fleet could easily destroy what few ships they had left, and they needed to find somewhere to fortify quickly before being rooted out. Krillion was the only option.

Little did they know how hard it would be to settle on this infested world. Not only were there Orks to contend with, but also other invading forces were looking to take Krillion for their own reasons. Whatever the case, Khador Valentine does not back from a fight easily. This would be an excellent opportunity to prove that his company could succeed where others could not. Being separated from the Imperium would not be easy but showing what his mercenaries could do would make the Inquisition think twice before attempting to take them on. This was the only hope Khador’s Mercenaries had left.
