Ch.1: The Battle of Exilium City (Part Two)

The battle had begun.

The Valkyre's flew in and bolter fire along with with rockets peppered the Primaris lines

Quick to secure key advantageous positions, Guardmen leapt from the transports, sliding down their ropes as the Vendetta made a strafing run on the Crimson Fists.

Rynn's Executioner, the one known as 'Skybane' instantly locked on to the Vendetta and blew it out of the sky!

Salbatore ordered his warriors to 'Castle' and with concentrated firepower, defend themselves and eliminate their attackers.

With the Primaris firepower so intense, Colonel Galen Cranis orders his smoking Valkyre to land beyond the reach of the Astartes. For a moment he and his men are safe. Then the Cannons of the Thunderfires begin to rain down on his location.

The longer the battle draws on, the more casualties the 86th suffer. The Colonel knows what he must do.

In order to give his men a window to retreat free from the Marine's Artillery. A saboteur is dispatched to take out the Thunderfire Cannons. Techmarine Gonzalez successfully defends his war machines.

With the Stravoss 86th now in full retreat the Crimson Fists pursue their attackers, breaking defensive formations and advancing with full aggression which is only halted by a Comm-Link where a surrender code is received.
The 86th now realising the identity of the enemy - loyal sons of the Emperor, The Crimson Fists.

The Officer bravely stepped forwards "My Lords you have our complete surrender! Forgive us! For if we had known the Emperor's own angels were here, we would have never raised arms against you... We had no transmissions... we are surrounded by rumours of heretics scattered amongst the ocean of Greenskins out there...we are..."

Captain Salbatore raised his hand in order to cease the excuses. Good and valiant men had died to nothing more than the result of prevailing, maddening Ork Energises and the fear that Krillion was overwhelmed by. He wanted to be angry, but the Primaris Captain swallowed his frustration. Regardless of what had happen here moments ago. Exilium City needed the Emperor's protection and the Orks had to be exterminated.

Over the course of the following days the Crimson Fists along with the Stravoss 86th Airborne mended their misgivings of one another and coordinated efforts for the evacuation of survivors found within the City. The 86th saw to the safety of the citizens to their orbiting Carrier 'Lyondis Prophecy'
This allowed the Crimson Fist to focus their efforts on reinforcing the heart of Exilium and making her a bastion of strength and hope to those still fighting on Krillion. With a base of operations now established, Salbatore could finally turn his attention to the Orks.
